Not quite. You can build an assumptions map for the qual research as well. It’s designed to be a repeatable process, not a once off. You will do multiple assumptions map.

For example, you would typically start in the problem space, your assumptions would therefore be focused there. As you validate the problem you move into the solution space. You could then do another assumptions map on the solution — what are all the assumptions you are making with it and then formulate hypotheses and test them.
